Big Walk Drawbridge Guide — Starter Puzzles, Key Cutting and Crossing

How to lower Big Walk's first drawbridge: solve the four tutorial co-op puzzles, trade four blorbs for the raw key, shape it at five cutting machines, and cross to Big Walk.

The drawbridge is Big Walk's opening exam. It guards the route out of the spawn region, it cannot be solved alone, and it teaches almost every mechanic the island will ask of you later: cooperative mechanisms, blorb collection, key blanks, and the cutting machines that turn them into working keys. Cross it and you earn the game's namesake achievement — plus a flashlight for the road ahead.

Before you start

This sequence is co-op locked — several mechanisms need people on both ends, so there is no solo workaround. Bring your whole group to the spawn area and split the puzzles below.

Step 1: Solve the four starter puzzles and bank four blorbs

Each puzzle near the spawn hides a blorb — the gourd-shaped collectible that fuels every key on the island. The four you need:

  1. Blue-framed symbol room. A small blue structure housing a symbol-matching mechanism.
  2. The L-shaped yellow building. Buttons and levers around its walls need pressing in coordination.
  3. The hilltop telescope riddle. One player reads a number code through the scope; another punches it in below.
  4. The green rig. A green-framed contraption with its own two-person routine.

Work through all four and bank the blorbs — you need exactly four for the next step.

Step 2: Trade blorbs for the raw key at the beach console

Down on the beach beside the drawbridge sits a console with four empty slots. Load all four blorbs to release the raw key blank. The catch: one player must hold the console's switch down while the other pulls the key out, so this is a two-person job by design.

Step 3: Shape the key at five cutting machines

A raw blank does not open anything. Five key-cutting machines stand between the beach and a finished key — three up in the northern hills and two out on the seaside rocks. Each machine's arrow points the way to the next one, so follow the chain and run the blank through every machine in sequence. Only after the fifth pass is the key actually a key.

Step 4: Drop the bridge and cross

Carry the finished key to the red lock on the drawbridge itself, slot it in, and the bridge lowers. Walk across and two things happen: the Big Walk achievement pops, and you are handed a flashlight — your first proper light source, and the ticket to exploring the rest of the island.

What the bridge unlocks, big-picture

The drawbridge is act one of a five-part transport chain: it leads toward the red tower and the map room, then on to the tunnels, the train, and the chairlift. If you want the whole progression in one place, our all achievements guide maps every key and every crossing to its achievement.
